Lasse ha sido durante seis años padrastro de Aava. Tras su separación de Hanna, madre de Aava, reflexiona sobre el vínculo de la padrastidad. Su crisis personal lo lleva de Helsinki a Imatra (Karelia), a visitar a cada uno de sus antiguos padrastros, tres filósofos finlandeses (Petri Tervo, Tapani Laine, Ilkka Hirvi). Desde sus respectivas vivencias y líneas de investigación, los tres intentan aportar claridad a su situación, abordando temas como la inexistencia del libre albedrío, la angustia y el amor en Kierkegaard, el beber y la violencia histórica contra las redes de apoyo mutuo. La película forma parte de un proyecto más amplio del mismo equipo financiado por la Fundación KONE, que busca explorar el cine como una forma de concretar y poetizar las líneas de investigación filosófica. El proyecto incluye también una serie de video-podcasts y una futura publicación.

Lasse was Aava’s stepfather for six years. Following his separation from Hanna, Aava’s mother, he reflects deeply on the bond of step-parenthood. His personal crisis leads him from Helsinki to Imatra (Finnish Karelia), where he visits his three former stepfathers, three philosophers (Petri Tervo, Tapani Laine, Ilkka Hirvi). Through their own life experiences and lines of research, the three attempt to bring clarity to his situation, addressing topics such as the nonexistence of free will, anguish and love in Kierkegaard, drinking, and the historical violence directed against solidarity networks. The film is part of a larger project by the same team funded by the KONE Foundation, which seeks to explore cinema as a means of grounding and poeticizing philosophical research. The project also includes a series of video podcasts and a future publication.
